Land dispute claims three lives in Swat

SWAT: Three people were killed and three others received injuries when two groups clashed over a land dispute in Shawar Shahi area of Matta tehsil here on Tuesday.

Police said that the two groups exchanged fire that resulted in death of two brothers Hussain Ahmed and Maulana Nawab Ali. Their third brother Ehsan Ali was critically injured in the clash.

From the other group, Subhan Ali was killed while two others were injured. Police arrested Rehmat Ali, Nawab Ali, Hussain Ahmad, Usman Ghani and Obadiullah after lodging an FIR against them.

Meanwhile, Rahimabad police arrested a young man for allegedly assaulting a seven-year-old girl. They said that the girl was going to seminary when the man took her to a nearby stream and raped her. She was also tortured.

The girl was shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital for medical examination. The medical report proved that the girl was assaulted. Police registered an FIR against the man and arrested him.

IFTAR: Like previous months of Ramazan, some young scouts arranged Iftar dinner for about 400 poor families in Mingora.

The scouts belonging to Elum Scout Open Group not only contributed their pocket money but also collected donations from their friends to arrange Iftar for the families.

Siab Khan, the head of the group, told Dawn that owning to record price hike and unemployment in the country, poor people did not have sufficient money to arrange proper Iftar for their families.

“There are hundreds of families whose heads cannot find work during the holy month of Ramazan so they face numerous problems. That’s why every Ramazan we provide them with free meals and other necessities for Iftar dinner,” he said.

The scouts said that they provided cooked meal, pickles, dates and other food items on daily basis to the families. “During the daytime we distribute tokens among the families and then they come to our point where they get meal and other items with respect,” said Ihsan, a volunteer of the group.
