Work on irrigation channel begins in Bara
KHYBER: The Khyber district administration on Wednesday launched construction of an irrigation channel at the Bara River here.
Officials said that the 2,000-meter-long irrigation channel and head-wall would be completed at a cost of Rs10.7 million.
They said that the project would bring 25,000 acres of land under irrigation, benefiting around 6,000 families in Chamkani Storikhel and Benai Akkakhel areas of Bara.
Officials said that Community Resilience Activity-North – a social organisation working to support community-level resilience development and conflict-prevention activities within the newly merged districts -- would design and implement the project, which would help the local farmers improve their agricultural yields.
