LAHORE, Dec 1: The Federal Health Ministry has given the site approval for the establishment of another 41 pharmaceutical units at the Sundar industrial estate. An industrial estate spokesman disclosed this here on Thursday that about 150 pharmaceutical units were presently being established at Sundar.
He said that these units were expected to create 30,000 direct and 80,000 to 100,000 indirect jobs with a total investment of six to eight billion rupees.
The Punjab government, he said, had provided a Rs50 million grant for the establishment of a central testing laboratory for pharmaceutical units at the industrial estate.
The spokesman said the Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company had allotted a 2.39 acre plot for the construction of the laboratory. All the pharmaceutical units would also establish their own testing laboratories.
Welcoming the approval of more pharmaceutical units at Sundar, PIEDMC chairman Mohsin Syed has stressed the need for clearing of the remaining units still under process at the earliest.
