ISLAMABAD: Two persons died of Covid-19 in the federal capital and Rawalpindi districts on Wednesday as 31 more people contracted the virus.

The positivity ratio in Rawalpindi district slightly increased from 0.5pc to 0.7pc and was recorded at 1.2pc in Islamabad.

The deceased was identified as Mushtaq Ahmed, 67, resident of Railways Scheme No. 4. He was brought to Rawalpindi Institute of Urology on March 15. Officials of the capital administration said the death of a female patient was reported in the age group of 40-49. The deceased was a resident of G-11.

During the last 24 hours 1,478 tests were conducted.

The officials said five cases were reported in the age group of 0-9, followed by four each in 30-39 and 50-59, two in 20-29, and one each were in the age bracket of 40-49, 60-69, 70-79 and 80 and above.

Likewise, two cases each were reported from Lohi Bher, Koral and G-5, and one each from E-11, F-6, G-11 and I-10, the officials said.

There are 263 active cases of the virus in Islamabad as of Wednesday, the officials said, adding that out of the total 29 were admitted to hospitals, 27 were on oxygen and two on ventilators.

As many as 14 patients recovered from the disease during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, according to the health authority’s (Rawalpindi) data, 1,557 samples were collected out of which 1,545 were found negative.

In Rawalpindi district, there are 79 active patients. As many as seven patients are in hospitals and 72 home isolated. Two patients were reported from cantonment, three from city areas, two patients each from Potohar Town and Taxila while one from Gujar Khan. One patient each arrived from Khanewal and Abbottabad.

There are seven patients admitted to different hospitals of Rawalpindi city including one patient each at Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Bilal Hospital and Fauji Foundation Hospital and four patients at Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.

There is a patient on a ventilator, four patients are on oxygen support and two are stable.
