ISLAMABAD, Nov 29: Wapda weightlifters won three of the four gold medals at stake on the first day of the 28th Quaid-i-Azam national ranking weightlifting championship on Tuesday.
International Ishtiaq Ghafoor (62kg), Jawwad Sarwar Cheema (69kg) and Muhammad Irfan Islam (77kg) were the Wapda victors while Punjab’s Abdul Ghafoor claimed the fourth gold in the 56kg category.
The winners are national camp trainees and are preparing for the next year’s Commonwealth, South Asian and Asian Games.
Brig Arif Mahmud Siddiqui, Director General of Pakistan Sports Board was the chief guest and gave away medals to the successful lifters.
