Clarification

KARACHI: The Sindh Higher Education Comm­ission (SHEC) has clarified that it has committed no violation of any rules, regulation or law regarding appo­intment of Engineer Prof Dr Samreen Hussain as the executive director-I (ED-I) of the commission.

Referring to a report published in Dawn’s Feb 28 issue, the SHEC in a statement explained that an advertisement for the position of ED-I was published in Dawn on Jan 16, 2022 and a scrutiny committee was constituted to examine the suitability of the candidates in accordance with the eligibility criteria, age and experience as mentioned in the advertisement.

The committee shortlisted eight eligible candidates who appeared before it for interview. All the members of selection board unanimously recommended Dr Samreen Hussain for her appointment as the ED-I, SHEC, it said.

The statement said that the SHEC believed in academic excellence and was unaware of any personal relationship.
