LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), Nov 29: The Education Officer of the Khyber Agency has terminated the services of two community school teachers and served show-cause notices on 11 regular teachers in Loe Shalman for being absent from duty.
People of the area had registered a number of complaints with the officials concerned about the abstaining teachers, following which an inspection team made surprise visits to the schools.
The AEO terminated the services of Mohammad Qadeem and Mohammad Israr after they were found absent from duty. Mohammad Qadeem was reportedly substituted by one Farooq Khan for a fixed salary of Rs2,000 per month.
A report compiled by the agency education department said that Haji Musharraf and Mujibur Rehman of the Government Primary School No. 2 had not been doing his job for one year, while Abid Ali of the GPS Wazir Kore was found absent for 14 months.
The AEO also ordered the transfer of a PTC (Primary Teaching Certificate) teacher of GPS No. 2 Loe Shalman to Durma Kore as the number of students was only 21 in the former school.
The report said that GPS Wazir Kore No. 2 was found closed and its three teachers Jan Mohammad, Ahmad Shah and Mukarram Khan were not on duty.
