Pakistan has detected 1,455 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, up 18.1 per cent from yesterday's 1,232 infections.

However, the number of additional fatalities rose by 18 compared to 43 a day earlier. The national positivity rate stood at 3.4pc.

The countrywide breakdown is as follows:

• Sindh: 656 cases, 3 deaths
• Punjab: 324 cases, 9 deaths
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 251 cases, 2 deaths
• Balochistan: 15 cases
• Islamabad: 119 cases, 2 deaths
• Gilgit-Baltistan: 19 cases
• Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 71 cases, 2 deaths
