PML-N rejects changes to election laws

PESHAWAR: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has rejected amendments to election laws through an ordinance and described it a plan to let the ministers to interfere in the local government polls.

Talking to journalists outside Peshawar High Court, PML-N provincial president Amir Muqam said that the days of Imran Khan-led government were numbered and the opposition parties would soon send him home through a no-confidence motion.

“Soon a no-confidence motion will be tabled to rid the nation of the incompetent government,” he said. He said that some disgruntled members of the treasury benches in the parliament would also support the no-confidence motion. He added that it would be good news for the people to oust the ‘selected rulers’.

The PML-N provincial chief said that government had turned the presidency into an ordinance factory from where amendments were promulgated arbitrarily for the only purpose to create problems for the opposition parties.

He termed Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Ordinance, 2022 an attack on freedom of expression. He said that restrictions on freedom of expression were against the Constitution and exposed the intensions of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government.

Mr Muqam said that government paralyzed all state institutions through promulgation of presidential ordinance one after another.

He also rejected the statement of finance minister that there was no poverty in Pakistan and that the incumbent government was better than those of 139 countries. He said that finance minister was attempting to dodge the people though baseless statements. He added that poor could not meet their routine kitchen expenses.

The PML-N leader said that inflation was increasing with each passing day in the country owing to flawed economic policies of the government.

He said that petrol prices were skyrocketing and rupee was depreciating continuously that forced the poor to commit suicide.

He said that the previous government of PML-N put the country on the path of development but the present rulers turned the tide on all good deeds and plunged the country into despair and frustration.

He said that PML-N would revive the country’s economy and work for the welfare of the people if it was voted to power.
