Internet, TV cables removed from poles

KARACHI: The K-Electric on Thursday said that TV cables and internet wires creating hazards were removed from across the city keeping the safety of consumers at the forefront and in light with government’s directives.

A KE spokesman said that the power utility was also part of a working group with Pakistan Telecommunication Access Provider Association (PTAPA) and other cable operators.

He said that prior information for the removal of illegally placed and unsafe wires of internet and TV encroached on electricity poles was given to all operators, but appropriate measures were not taken to shift these cables.

The spokesman clarified that despite repeated reminders from KE and assurances from operators, the plans to shift TV and internet cables underground by the end of 2020 remained incomplete.
