Pakistan has reported 2,597 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, down from 2,662 a day earlier.

In the last 24 hours, 27 more people succumbed to the virus compared to 29 yesterday. The national positivity rate stands at 5.4 per cent.

The total caseload is now 1,488,958 while the death toll is 29,828.

The nationwide breakdown is as follows:

• Sindh: 1,210 cases, 5 deaths
• Punjab: 704 cases, 17 deaths
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 386 cases, 3 deaths
• Islamabad: 165 cases
• Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 64 cases, 2 deaths
• Gilgit-Baltistan: 53 cases
• Balochistan: 15 cases
