Korean embassy taking steps to resolve students’ visa issue

ISLAMABAD: The Korean embassy has been taking steps to resolve issues of Pakistani students enrolled in Korean universities but are being denied visas.

“The embassy is working on that issue [of Pakistani students],” a representative of the embassy told Dawn.

A large number of Pakistani students willing to study in Korea (who got admissions in different Korean universities) and some who were already studying there (and returned to Pakistan during holidays) got stuck due to visa restrictions.

They said for the last one year, the Korean embassy in Pakistan was neither granting visa to the newly-admitted students nor allowing old students to travel back.

Therefore, many students got their admissions cancelled while others are suffering due to the suspension of the D2 student visa.

“We are also trying to reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pakistan is not included in the list of restricted countries but our visas are being rejected,” said a student.

He requested the Korean ambassador to look into the issue as students were desperately looking forward to a positive response.
