Pakistan has detected 7,963 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, down from a record 8,183 a day earlier, and 27 fatalities.

The national positivity rate stands at 11.3 per cent.

The breakdown in the last 24 hours is as follows:

• Sindh: 2,231 cases, 15 deaths
• Punjab: 2,283 cases, 7 deaths
• Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 1,278 cases, 5 deaths
• Balochistan: 90 cases
• Islamabad: 1,555 cases
• Gilgit-Baltistan: 24 cases
• Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 502 cases
