Pakistan has detected 8,183 new infections in the last 24 hours, the highest daily caseload since the start of the pandemic in the country in February 2020.

Prior to this, the highest number of cases — 7,678 — were recorded on Jan 21.

The total number of cases has reached 1,402,070 while the positivity rate stands at 11.9pc.

• Islamabad: 1,550
