Six facing sedition charges granted bail

LARKANA, Nov 22: The first additional session judge has confirmed the bail of six people facing sedition charges. The accused are: Ammanullah Shaikh; senior vice-chairman of Sindh Democratic Party (SDP), Ms Kalpina Devi advocate, Dr Mazhar Mughal, a Jeay Sindh Mahaz activist, and singers Nazeer Samo, Sheraz Abbasi and Ashique Nizamani.

Market police had booked them along with 115 others under sedition charges (124-A Cr PC) in April 2003. They had addressed a gathering and sang songs in Jinnah Bagh during centenary celebrations of G.M.Syed, said advocate Ammanullah Shaikh.

Since then they had been on provisional bail, as the police were not submitting the challan in the court.

The challan were submitted after a lapse of two years and Mr Abdul Hameed Qureshi, the first Additional Session Judge, Larkana confirmed their bail.
