Railway portal to be developed in three months, says minister

RAWALPINDI: Railway Minister Azam Khan Swati said a railway portal similar to the citizen portal will be developed within two to three months to redress public complaints.

Moreover, 230 new coaches will be arranged in the railways.

The minister was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the first air conditioned coach in Hazara Express at the Rawalpindi railway station on Monday.

He said he was planning to establish facilitation centres across the country and the whole railway network would be monitored from a cell to be set up at his office.

The minister said he wanted to see problems of porters resolved, and assured the porters that they would be freed from the old contractor system.

He congratulated the officers and workers of the railways on the launch of the AC coach in Hazara Express from Havelian to Karachi.

He said the railway revenue was increasing and losses were being reduced.

“There is no place for black sheep in the railway,” he added.

Syed Ahmad Shah Wazir, KP minister for social welfare, also spoke on the occasion and said he had never seen such a well-maintained train in the last 20 years.

He said when institutions would be developed prices of daily-use items would reduce.
