DERA GHAZI KHAN, Nov 22: The Border Military Police of tribal area tehsil claimed to have arrested six alleged armed robbers who were trying to escape from settle area after a clash with Punjab police.
BMP said the robbers snatched a tractor in the limits of D G Khan Saddar police station. After an exchange of fire with local people, in which one Sarwar got injured, the robbers managed to flee into the tribal area, they said.
The BMP personnel, after being informed of the incident by Punjab police, chased the robbers and arrested them with the cooperation of local tribal people in the jurisdiction of Lakha police station after a heavy exchange of fire.
BMP sources told Dawn the robbers, belonging to Hazoora tribe, would be booked under section 324.
Meanwhile, residents of union council No 7 staged a protest demonstration against the increasing incidents of theft and robbery in and around the city and demanded steps to curb the crime in the district.
Reports said after the local body election, crime graph in the district was constantly rising.
