ISLAMABAD: Veteran Aqeel Khan outclassed young Hasheesh Kumar in the men’s singles second round of the Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan National Ranking Tennis Championships here at the PTF Complex on Friday.

Aqeel, 41, gave promising but relatively far less inexperienced 17-year-old Hasheesh a 6-0, 6-1 tennis lesson.

However, Hasheesh showed his prowess in the U-18 section where he comfortably beat Kamran Khan 6-4, 6-2 in the second-round match.

While Mudassir Murtaza defeated Barkatullah 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in a close men’s singles match, Heera Ashiq, Shahzad Khan, Mohammad Abid, Mohammad Shoaib, Muzammil Murtaza and Yousuf Khalil recorded facile victories against their respective opponents.

Women’s top-ranked player Ushan Suhail blanked Kainat Ali 6-0, 6-0 in the quarter-final.
