KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy struck a stunning blow to the Indian Navy by sinking an Indian frigate on Thursday/Friday night [Dec 9] in a daring operation deep down the enemy coast about 300 miles off Karachi. The trophy was bagged by one of our submarines in the dead of the night at 11 o’clock just 50 miles from the Portuguese colony on the Kathiawar coast north of Bombay.

Pakistan Navy thus avenged the earlier loss of one of our destroyers sunk in a missile attack by a Russian-supplied missile boat. The feat made the enemy feel the presence of the small but hard-hitting Pakistan Navy, hundreds of miles away from our shores. — Staff correspondent

[Meanwhile, as reported by the staff correspondent from Rawalpindi,] Pakistan Air Force added another seven Indian warplanes to its bag in various actions … bringing the total to 127. Extensive damage was inflicted on the Indian air bases during the night and day raids on Pathankot, Amritsar, Jaisalmer, Uttarlai, Jammu and Srinagar. … The most modern supersonic interceptor in the IAF inventory was humbled by the old war horse of the PAF in a battle staged near Badin … when a PAF Sabre shot a MIG-21 from the skies in aerial combat… .
