PESHAWAR, Nov 18: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan said on Friday that the provincial government, in collaboration with international donor agencies, was striving to eradicate polio from the province. Briefing reporters here about a three-day polio campaign scheduled to start from November 22, the minister said over 5.56 million children would be administered polio drops. He said that the campaign was aimed at covering 100 per cent children in the province, FATA and Afghan refugee’s camps.

Flanked by Unicef and the WHO representatives and officials of the health department, Mr Khan said that Ulema, teachers and students would be actively involved to make the campaign a success.

“This year only four polio cases were reported in the province while last year there were 8 reported cases”, he said, adding people should come forward and demand polio vaccination of their children if they were left out during the campaign.
