DOHA, Nov 15: The Turkish Weightlifting Federation (TWF), in the dock after a series of failed drug tests, was on Tuesday fined 100,000 dollars and suspended from all international competitions until May next year. At its meeting on Monday the International Weightlifting Federation’s (IWF) executive committee hauled Turkey over the coals for bringing the sport of weightlifting into disrepute.

Turkey were already serving a preliminary suspension for multiple positive tests by its athletes and officials, especially in out-of-competition controls.

The IWF has also asked the TWF to identify athletes and coaches involved in the violations and impose necessary sanctions on them.—AFP
