LAKKI MARWAT, Nov 15: The district chapter of the JUI-F on Tuesday nominated Maulana Ahmad Ali as its candidate for by-election on the provincial assembly seat PF-75 (Lakki-II). The decision to this effect was taken in an emergency meeting held in Wanda Sattarkhel with district ameer Maulana Abdul Rahim in the chair. Nomination of a candidate for the by-election was on top of the agenda. The participants took a number of other important decisions.

It was decided that Maulana Ahmad Ali, son of MNA Maulana Amanullah Khan, would contest the election from JUI’s platform, while Zafrullah Khan of Tajori and Asmatullah Khan of Jabukhel would file nomination papers as covering candidates.

The meeting also formed a committee comprising MNA Maulana Amanullah Khan, provincial naib amir of JUI-F Maulana Haji Amir Nawaz Khan, district amir Maulana Abdul Rahim and other party leaders to hold talks with like-minded groups and secure their support for JUI’s candidate.

NOMINATION PAPERS: Nineteen nomination papers have been filed for the NWFP Assembly seat PF-75 (Lakki Marwat-II), which fell vacant after the disqualification of Pakistan Muslim League (N) MPA Malik Imran.

Officials said that 19 candidates having affiliation with different political parties had filed their papers with the concerned returning officer in Lakki Marwat.

The scrutiny of the papers would take place on Nov 16 and 17.
