LAHORE, Nov 15: The Sharif family is expected to move from Jeddah to London in about a week’s time, says the son-in-law of the former prime minister. Capt Safdar told Dawn on Tuesday that Nawaz Sharif and Begum Kulsoom would stay with their son, Hasan, in London while he (Safdar) and Husain along with their families would return to Jeddah after some time.

He said children of the Sharif family studying in Jeddah would continue their studies in the kingdom.

He said since the exiled family had spent five years in Saudi Arabia, all members would like to stay in the British capital for some time. But, he said, then some of them would go back to Jeddah and stay in Saroor Palace, their residence since their banishment in December 2000.

He said during their stay in London, Nawaz and Begum Kulsoom would be visiting Saudi Arabia for Haj or Umra.

He said before leaving for London, the former prime minister would be meeting with King Abdullah. However, he said, so far the time for the meeting had not been set.

He said the entire family would get British visa during the next few days.

About the health of Hasan, he said there was tremendous improvement, although he was still under treatment. He said doctors had advised him a complete bed rest.

PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif has been staying in London for several months.

A spokesman for the Sharifs, Farrukh Shah, left here for London on Tuesday.
