Artiste absolved of murder plot charge

LAHORE, Nov 15: Additional district and sessions judge Rana Jamshed Hasan on Tuesday acquitted artiste Tammy Sikandar, the daughter of the late artiste Sikandar Shaheen, of charges of hatching a conspiracy to murder her husband Samar Tiwana.

Samar Tiwana was killed in 1996 and the prosecution failed ito submit to the trail court substantial evidence for the purpose of issuing Tammy with a charge sheet.

The sessions court has exonerated Tammy in as many as nine more identical cases from time to time since 1996.

She faced allegations of kidnapping for ransom and also masterminding other offences, including murder and attempt to murder. The abetment in murder was the last case in which she was acquitted. The late Ejaz Batalvi was her counsel in the cases. After his death, Barrister Saleem Sehgal was her counsel in the last case.
