DHAKA, Nov 14: Two senior assistant judges of a lower court were killed and four others, including the bomber himself, were injured in a bomb attack in a southern town of Jhalakathi on Monday. Witnesses said a powerful bomb was thrown on a minibus carrying the judges to their office in the morning, instantly killing Judge Sohel Ahmed, 35, of Sadar Upazila Court, and Judge Jagannath Parey, 38, of Nalchhiti Upazila Court in Jhalakathi coastal town.
They said a young man threw the bomb into the vehicle soon after it stopped to pick Judge M. Awal from the government staff quarters at East Chankathi of the coastal district town, 120 kilometres from Dhaka.
State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar said in Dhaka that the banned outfit, Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh, had carried out the attack, a day after the conclusion of the two-day Saarc summit amid tight security.
