Report to be presented at donors meeting: Damage to schools, colleges

ISLAMABAD, Nov 14: The education ministry will present a damage assessment report about schools and colleges in the earthquake-hit areas at the international donors conference scheduled to be held on the 19th of this month.

This was stated by Federal Education Minister Lt-Gen (retired) Javed Ashraf Qazi while talking to participants of the ‘Coordination for Education Rehabilitation Conference’ here on Monday.

The minister said according to the ground survey conducted by the monitoring cell of the ministry, 2,159 and 5,953 schools/colleges were damaged in the NWFP and Azad Kashmir, respectively.

The number of schools and colleges partially damaged in the NWFP was 3,183 and 568 in Azad Kashmir. He said there was some variations in the data so far collected by various public and private sector organizations which would be settled before the international donors conference commenced.— Staff Reporter
