PROMINENT archaeologist Taj Mohammad Sehrai, who authored over two dozen books on history, archaeology, music and education, is remembered in Sindh for many of his findings across the province, especially in Dadu district.
His work related to sites like Caves Kai, Kachho, Kheer Thar, Rani Kot fort, Amri remains, Sehwan fort, and the remains of Kalhora and Talpur eras has been appreciated globally.
Born in Shikarpur, he had settled in Dadu long ago where he served as a school teacher and lived a simple life despite being a true scholar. He founded a high school, a historical society and much else in Dadu.
He had excellent grasp of the poetry of giants like Shah Bhittai, Sachal Sarmast and Ustad Bukhari. He received the pride of performance award in 1990 for his literary contributions alone.
Though he died almost two decades ago, he lives in the hearts of the people.
