RAHIM YAR KHAN: The PC-I of Rs 2bn project for the improvement of track in the Sukkur railway division has been sent to the Planning Commission for approval.

According to Sukkur’s Divisional Superintendent (DS) Shoaib Aadil, the amount would help improve vulnerable points on the mainline.

The PR’s Sukkur division, stretched over 400km, has seen the highest number of derailments in recent years.

Talking to newsmen at the local railway station on Wednesday night, the DS they had already started improving the track with available resources.

He said the RYK railway station which generated monthly revenue of Rs 25 to 26 million would be upgraded soon.

The DS said the railway station building would be white washed, the number of washrooms would be increased on both the platforms.

The DS said the quota for passengers in all trains of this B grade railway station would be increased and a request in this regard would sent to the Railway Headquarters.

He said the condition of RYK railway colony was very bad and efforts would be made to improve it.
