GUJRANWALA, Nov 11: The Wahando police on Friday registered a case against 21 people, who plundered cash and gold ornaments from their rival’s house and demolished it. Reports said several people, including Khalid, Nisar Ali, Tariq and Farooq, who were at dagger’s drawn with incarcerated Liaquat, broke into his house and looted cash, gold jewellery and other valuables worth Rs1 million. Later, they demolished the house to settle score.

The Wahando police are conducting raids for the arrest of the ruffians.

STRIKE: The sanitary workers of Satellite Town went on strike on Friday to protest against deduction of their salaries by the supervisors.

They told journalists that their monthly salary was fixed at Rs6,000, but the sanitary supervisors were paying them Rs2,500 each and deducting the remaining amount without any justification.

They demanded that the supervisors should be asked to disburse the dues, otherwise, they would continue the strike.

INQUIRY: A local court completed inquiry into the death of a passer-by after falling into an open manhole and held the Wasa contractor responsible for the incident. Legal proceedings have been ordered against him.

According to reports, labourer Muhammad Azeem fell into a manhole in front of the Model Town police station and died on July 14 last year.

Advocate Sheikh Iezad Masood, the complainant, requested the police to institute a murder case against the Wasa contractor but the latter refused to do so. Subsequently, he moved the sessions court, which appointed judicial magistrate Sheikh Anwarullah to probe the issue.

The magistrate found the contractor guilty of negligence and ordered strict action against him.
