Ishaq Khan, who belongs to Pail village situated 18 kilometres off Bagh, said the quake survivors were being provided with tents that were not good for saving them from extreme cold in winter. These tents leaks during rains and are equally unsafe against fire.
He said corrugated sheets and fibreglass shells were the ideal material for speedy reconstruction of shelters. The victims could easily rebuild shelters by using sheets and debris of their houses, using the Rs25,000 being provided to each family by the government.
The lawyer said the government should exempt corrugated sheets from all taxes and duties for reducing the cost of construction of shelters in the devastated areas.— Reporter
