Slow progress by Multan

KARACHI, Nov 9: Multan made slow progress by reaching 203 for six in their first innings against Karachi Urban on the opening day of the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy Gold League match at the National Stadium on Wednesday.

After opting to bat first, Multan were given a solid start by left-handed openers Saeed Anwar Junior (24) and Usman Tariq (78) who put on 72 for the first wicket.

Usman, who struck nine boundaries in his 154-ball knock, was involved in another good partnership of 60 for the second wicket with fellow left-hander Azhar Shafiq (36).

Skipper Aamir Bashir was out cheaply for just one, becoming one of four victims for promising wicket-keeper Aminur Rahman.

Paceman Tabish Khan claimed three for 53 while left-arm medium-pacer Nasir Khan took two for 39.
