SHEIKHUPURA, Nov 9: The Punjab government has decided to allocate 830 houses for the rehabilitation of quake survivors in Labour Colony in Rana Town. At least 1,660 families could temporarily be settled in these houses for about one year.

This was disclosed by provincial minister Syed Akhtar Husain Rizvi while talking to reporters here on Wednesday.

The minister said the provincial government was providing maximum facilities to the quake-affected people in Azad Jammu & Kashmir and the NWFP areas.

He said the social security department had set up mobile hospitals in all parts of the affected areas. The injured admitted to Punjab hospitals were given required treatment, he added.

KILLED: Four people were killed in different incidents in Sheikhupura and Nankana districts on Wednesday.

Ali Sher and Ramzan were going to their Rangpur village from Nankana Sahib by car (LZT-3011). Near Barkhurdar bus stop, their speeding vehicle overturned. As a result, both the riders died on the spot. Nankana Sadar police are investigating.

Elderly man, Sattar Buksh, knocked down and killed by a tractor-trolley on Baraghar Bucheki Road near Sharqpur Awana. He was crossing the road.

Baraghar police have impounded the trolley while the driver managed to escape from the scene.

Accused Zaman Chattha, Saif, Riaz, Rana Hasrat, Rehmat, Nanah Arrain and Faisal Farooq came to Ali Motors for taking a car on rent. Meanwhile, the accused and owner Malik Irfan exchanged hot words over some issue. Later, the accused opened fire on Irfan and his colleague Idrees and fled. They sustained serious bullet injuries.
