SUKKUR, Nov 9: The division bench of the Sindh High Court, Sukkur, has directed the DPO of Sukkur, the DPO of Khairpur, the Kotdiji TPO and the Rohri TPO to appear before the court on November 11 and also provide protection to two Hindu girls who have embraced Islam and have married of their own free will with Muslim men.

The bench comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani and Justice Ameer Hani Muslim issued these orders on Tuesday, on a petition filed by Ganga and Pashma whose Muslim names are Aisha and Kausar. They stated in their petitions that they have embraced Islam at their own free will and married Irshad Kandhro and Mir Haider Burdi, respectively, at the Dargah of Amrot Sharif last week. A large number of the religious personalities, including Maulana Aziz Ahmed Shah Amroti, Gadi Nashin of the Dargah of Amrot Sharif, were present in the court during the hearing.

Aisha, wife of Mir Haider Burdi, is the resident of Kandhra and Kausar Perveen, wife of Irshad Kandhro, is living in Kotdiji. In their petition, they maintained that despite several requests, the DPO of Sukkur, the DPO of Khairpur and other police officials failed to provide protection to them as their relatives and other influential people, including the Kotdiji union council Nazim Naseer Fakir Jalalani, were threatening their husbands of dire consequences in case they failed to send the girls back to their relatives.

It may be recalled that both the girls were already married with children, and according to them, their husbands used to torture them, so they decided to embrace Islam and went to the Dargah of Amrot Sharif and embraced Islam and later married to Muslim men.

The court also issued notice to the UC Nazim Naseer Fakir Jalalani to appear before the court on November 11 to clear his position.
