SUKKUR: Sindh High Court’s Sukkur bench on Tuesday rejected the bail application filed for Farhan Ali Sahito, one of the eight accused nominated in the murder case of a Naushahro Feroze journalist, Aziz Memon.

Dismissing the bail plea, the bench ordered the trial court of Naushahro Feroze to decide the case within the next four months.

Our Sukkur correspondent adds: The body of senior journalist Aziz Memon, associated with a Sindhi-language media house was found floating in an irrigation channel in Mehrabpur town of Naushahro Feroze district on Feb 16 last year.

Initially police believed it was a suicide case but after widespread protests in different parts of Sindh by media workers and civil society activists, a joint investigation team (JIT) was formed to hold a probe. The JIT, headed by the then additional inspector general Ghulam Nabi Memon, had concluded that it was a well-planned murder executed by eight suspects led by Mushtaq Sahito.

Three of the suspects Nazeer Sahito, Ameer Sahito and Farhan Sahito, had been arrested after the incident.
