DADU, Nov 8: Two personnel of a law-enforcement agency were arrested by Mehar town police during checking at two separate places at the Mehar bypass on Tuesday. Weapons were allegedly recovered from their possession.
A police party led by SHO of Mehar police station Allan Khan Abbasi, during a snap checking arrested a member of a law-enforcement agency, Fida Hussain Mahessar. He is a resident of the Laung Mahessra village from the Nanik bypass, Mehar.
Police found two repeaters, one TT pistol and 100 rounds from his possession.
Another official was arrested by police from the Mehar bypass. He was identified as Ghulam Hyder Depar, son of Ghulam Mustafa, resident of Khadhri village of Warah Taluka. Police recovered an 8mm rifle and 15 bullets from his possession.
SHO Mehar police station said that both officials were arrested with unlicensed weapons. He said that two FIRs under 13D Arms Act were registered against them and one more FIR No. 158 was registered against Ghulam Hyder Depar on charges of a clash with police.
TPO Mehar, Gul Beg Jatoi said that police had suspected that both officials were involved in supply of illegal weapons to criminals.
He said that two officials were on leave and were in civvies. Water Shortage: A large number of growers of Patoro and Pahore waterways originating from Johi branch staged a demonstration outside the office of executive engineer southern division, here on Tuesday, to protest against shortage of water.
Led by the leaders of small growers, Mohammad Hassan Leghari, Ghulam Mustafa and Mohammad Urs Panhwar, they said that irrigation officials were releasing water into the Pahore, Patoro and Pir Gunio waterways in a very small quantity which affected cotton and paddy crops.
They said that still the growers of these waterways were receiving small quantity of water which would affect the wheat and other crops.
They alleged that irrigation officials were selling water to influential growers and appealed to President Musharraf to take immediate notice of shortage of water in these waterways and ensure judicious supply of water to their lands.
COMPLAINT: A resident of Hero Khan, Johi Taluka , Ali Sher Mastoi, on Tuesday complained to reporters at Dadu Press Club that he had brought his pregnant wife Ms Marvi in the female ward of civil hospital in serious condition.
He alleged that the hospital administration and doctors paid no attention and had not provided him with ambulance to shift his wife to another hospital.
His wife had died on Monday.
He appealed to provincial minister for health and secretary health to conduct an enquiry into negligence of the health officials.
Meanwhile, the District Nazim Dadu has directed the Civil Surgeon Dadu to submit him report within three days about the matter.
