LAHORE, Nov 8: Workers of an NGO lit candles at the Racecourse Park on Tuesday in memory of those who died in the devastating earthquake on Oct 8.

The event was organized to provide a chance to people to register themselves as volunteers.

Participants made speeches and urged volunteers to collect maximum donations both in cash and kind for the people in the affected areas.

Relief goods: Punjab Relief Minister Gul Hamid Rokhari has said 7,602 truckloads of relief goods had been sent to the quake-affected areas from different parts of the Punjab so far.

Presiding over a meeting held on Tuesday to review the progress of relief operations, he said 3,521 trucks had carried foodstuffs, 2,760 blankets, 895 tents and 425 medicines for the victims.

Mr Rokhari said hundreds of people injured during the quake were being provided medical care in the teaching hospitals of the provincial capital. Provincial ministers continued visiting the hospitals to inquire about their health.

KACP: The Kashmir Action Committee Pakistan has sent monetary relief of over Rs 200,000 for the earthquake victims of Indian held Kashmir.

The amount has been contributed by a Kashmiri leader Haji Abdul Mannan settled in Lahore. The amount has been sent to the relief fund opened by the Daily Greater Kashmir, Srinagar, through the American Express Bank, New York.
