Four health officials booked for vaccination fraud

SAHIWAL: Farid Town police booked four health department employees on charges of fake vaccination and issuing fake certificates to the citizens by charging money at the vaccination centre of the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital.

The case was registered on the complaint of district health authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdul Majeed on Monday under various sections of the PPC.

Dr Majeed told Dawn he had launched an inquiry into the matter on receiving public complaints. He said the gang of four officials had been doing the fraud for the last five months.

The officials were identified as pharmacy technician Shahbaz, dispenser Azhar, data entry operator Israr and Amjad Saeed, an apprentice at outpatient department (OPD) of the DHQ Hospital.

The probe found that cash was received from people through mobile money transfer and the suspects would later divide among themselves.

BODY: The body of an 11-year-old gypsy girl who had drowned in 9-L Canal near Shadab Town on Sunday could not be found despite a passage of 30 hours.

Rescue 1122 sources said the search for Ramsha’s body would continue on the third day (Tuesday).

On hearing their hue and cry, two passers-by jumped into the canal and rescued two girls but they could not save the third one, identified as Ramsha.

funds for colleges: The provincial government has released Rs 949.1 million development funds for the construction four public sector colleges and upgrade of health facilities in Pakpattan district.

Most of the development funds will be spent in rural areas.

The new colleges are: Government Girls Associate College, Bunga Hayat, Government Girls Associate College, Qaboola, Government Girls Associate College and Government Boys Associate College, Noorpur, respectively.

A a trauma center will be constructed at Noorpur, an emergency block and 60 beds mother and child hospital at the DHQ Hospital, Pakpattan.
