GUJRANWALA, Nov 7: The district administration and police have failed to implement the Supreme Court order regarding the imposition of a ban on kite-flying and its manufacturing.
Shopkeepers are selling string and kites in the open market without any fear of arrest.
According to a survey conducted in Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Ghakkhar, Rahwali, Sodara, Alipur Chattha, Rasul Nagar, Aimanabad, Kamoki, Qila Dedar Singh and Naushera Virkan, youths and children between five and 10 years of age were found flying kites on rooftops of their houses and roads.
It was stated that kite and string manufacturers had stocked goods in their secret godowns from where they were supplying it to shopkeepers in the dark.
The concerned citizens have urged the Supreme Court to get the ban implemented strictly.
Six murdered: As many as six people were murdered by their rivals in different incidents during the last 48 hours in and around the city.
Reports said a landlord, Asim, of Notho Soya village was working in his fields when Zafarullah came there and shot him dead after an exchange of hot words over a land dispute. Amir of Dhilown, Wazirabad killed his friend Mudassar over a trifle. Nadeem of Tung Kalan Tetley was shot dead by Mudassar Cheema on a minor issue.
A peasant, Majid Ali, of Jhamwala Alipur Chattha was stabbed by his rival Kazam Ali over an old enmity. The accused attacked him with a knife when he was on his way home from the field. Majid died on way to hospital. Amanat Ali of Ghumanwala village was found murdered in his fields. His body was sent to Kamoki civil hospital for autopsy.
Wahando police have recovered the decomposed body of a man from the fields.
SMOOTH FLOW: The smooth flow of traffic on roads throughout the region is the outcome of better performance of the traffic police staff.

The SP appreciated traffic police officers and staff and urged them to continue their efforts in this respect.
He pointed out that several officials had been suspended from service for negligence and receiving Eidi.
THREE KILLED: Three motorcyclists were killed in a road accident near Ghakkhar Town on Monday.
Reports said that two speeding motorcycles collided head-on with each other. As a result, riders Arshad Ansari, Ilyas and Hasan Javed sustained head injuries. They were rushed to General Hospital, Lahore, where they all died. The bodies were handed over to their heirs.
