DHA Golf Club open sizeable advantage on first day
KARACHI: Omair Javed shot a sizzling six-under 66 among the amateurs, spearheading DHA Golf Club to a sizeable lead on the opening day of the Sindh Inter-Club Golf match at the Karachi Golf Course on Tuesday.
With the winners of the two-day match advancing to the National Inter-Club Golf Championship here at the weekend, DHA returned an aggregate of 1146 across six categories to leave Airmen Golf Club (1171) and Karachi Golf Club (1172) trailing behind.
Omair, national champion Omar Khalid (71), Ali Mehmood (75) and Waleed Ali Khan (87) took DHA to 212 in the amateurs category, 12 shots ahead of a KGC team who had Yashal Shah (70), Saim Shazli (75), Abdullah Adil (79) and Hamza Shikoh Khan (81) in their ranks. AGC finished with 240 in that section.
AGC’s seniors were the best on the day with 237, ahead of KGC (239) and DHA (244) while KGC’s ladies golfers shone with 183, five strokes ahead of DHA 188 and 15 in front of AGC, who had Aania Farooq in their ranks.
KGC also had the best scores in juniors, DHA were best in juniors under-15 while AGC’s junior ladies had the best outing on Tuesday.
