GUJRANWALA, Nov 6: A man hanged himself after poisoning to death his wife and three minor children for his failure to arrange for them Eid clothes in Qudratabad, Wazirabad.
According to reports reaching here, deceased Shehbaz Ahmad’s wife asked him to provide new clothes for her and the children. But he could not fulfil her desire owing to his extreme poverty. With her persistent demand, he got upset and offered her wife and children the poison-mixed tea. As a result, his wife Farkhanda Bibi (30), daughter Sidra (4), infant Iqra and Waqas (3) died on the spot. Later, he also ended his life after hanging himself with a ceiling fan.
When his mother and other family members came there for Eid greetings, they found them dead. The bodies were removed to the local THQ Hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, doctors confirmed that the poison caused the death of Farkhanda and her children while the accused committed suicide. Later, bodies were handed over to their heirs after post-mortem.

The sacked workers called upon the district nazim to absorb them in the newly-constituted towns.
Reports said that these employees were recruited temporarily as sanitary workers and sanitary supervisors by former city tehsil council administration on the recommendation of then nazims and councillors of union councils. While they were deployed in 64 UCs by former city nazim Babu Javed Ahmad for improving the sanitation system.
However, after the division of the city into four towns — Aroop, Nandipur, Khiali and Qila Dedar Singh — the services of these workers were terminated.

Man killed: A man was killed while six others sustained injuries in a clash between two rival groups over a children’s quarrel in Satellite Town here on Sunday.
Reports said children of Arain and Changer groups quarrelled with each other during a cricket match. Later, elders of both the groups resorted to firing as a result of which Akbar Ali Arain, who was sitting at his shop, was killed on the spot. Six people of both the groups — Asghar Ali, Nasir Mahmood, Babar Ali, Abdul Wahid, Muhammad Ishaq and Abdul Salam — sustained injuries.
They were rushed to the local DHQ hospital in a critical condition.
KILLED: Two members of a family were killed and 10 others injured when their wagon dashed against a stationary tractor-trolley near People’s Colony here on Sunday.
Reports said a family was returning home in Muridkey from Sialkot by a wagon, which collided with a tractor-trolley. Aslam Tahir and Shahzeb died on the spot while Asghar, Zaman, Suleman, Zahid, Iqbal, Najeeb, Zohra Bibi, Shumaila Bibi and Nawaz were among the injured.
They were taken to the DHQ hospital in critical condition. Police have registered a case.
