LAKKI MARWAT: Heavy rains and flash floods have damaged the rural and urban roads in parts of the district, causing numerous problems for the people, especially transporters.
Torrential rains have caused flash floods in the seasonal rainwater courses which badly hit the road infrastructure in the district.
Residents said the monsoon rains had severely affected the rural roads in the southern district while no repair work could be launched so far.
Residents urge govt to release funds for the repair work
They said the local roads were already in bad shape and the recent rains and ensuing floods further damaged the arteries that linked the villages and hamlets with urban localities.
A social activist from Zangikhel village said the local authorities concerned were not paying heed to the maintenance of damaged roads.
He said the recent flood in a rainwater course swept away a portion of Mela Mandrakhel-Zangikhel road near Mela Shahabkhel village.
He said the road linked the rural localities with the urban area.
The residents asked the provincial government to provide funds to the department concerned for early and speedy repair of the broken roads in the district.
PLANTATION DRIVE: The Bannu district administration launched a Miyawaki plantation campaign in urban localities on Tuesday.
An official said that assistant commissioner Dr Tayyeb Hayat inaugurated the drive by planting saplings in the green belt located at Allah Chowk.
He said the Water and Sanitation Services Company had been tasked to carry out plantation in green belts and along roadsides.
He said the WSSC workers would look after the plants.
PROBE BODY FORMED: Lakki Marwat district health officer Dr Abdugul on Tuesday formed a committee to probe the alleged absence of a doctor to conduct autopsy of a deceased in category-D hospital in Tajori town.
Body of an aged man who was shot dead in Khankhel Mandozi area was shifted to Tajori hospital for medico-legal formalities.
A relative of the deceased told mediapersons they waited for a doctor till evening, but no one came there to conduct the autopsy.
He said later they took the body to the government city hospital where the post-mortem was conducted.
