VEHARI, Nov 2: The sale of eid card was badly affected due to the use of modern technology, such as e-mail and SMS. A visit to various markets of the city revealed that stalls have been erected to sell eid cards but the owners were seen sitting idle. However, people belonging to rural areas were buying the greeting cards.
A stall owner, Hanif, said the sale was very low as compared to the last year. Giving the reason, he said the minimum price of a card was Rs5 while a stamp of Rs4 was required to post it.
On the other hand, sending eid greetings through e-mail and SMS through mobile phones has become easy and cheap. Moreover, it is a surety that the e-mail would be delivered to the addressee, while the card sent through ordinary post could be misplaced due to the negligence of the post office staff and never reach its destination.
