SUKKUR, Nov 2: The Sindh High Court, Sukkur bench, on Wednesday sent the SHO and an ASI of the ‘C’ section police station to jail following charges of contempt of court regarding non-recovery of a two-and-a-half-year-old boy, whose mother has filed an application in the court.
According to reports, Saima Lashari had filed an application in the court on October 31.
She stated that she had been divorced by her husband Mehmood Siddiqui, who had kept their son Mubeen with him.
She requested from the court to recover her son.
Justice Zawar Hussain Jaffery had ordered the Sukkur DPO and the C section police station SHO to recover the child and produce him before the court on November 2.
ASI Sahib Dino Narejo appeared before the court on Wednesday.
The court expressing annoyance ordered Sukkur DPO Aftab Halepoto and SHO Abdul Hakeem Bullo to appear before the court immediately.
Later, when the SHO appeared, the court charged him of contempt of court and sent him to jail along with the ASI.
The court then ordered the Sukkur DPO to recover the child and produce him before the court at 1:00pm.
TPO Manzoor Sangri raided the house of Mehmood Siddiqui, situated in old Sukkur, on the instructions of the DPO, and arrested his brother and father as he was not found at home.
The arrested were produced in the court and they told the court that Mehmood Siddiqui had fled to an undisclosed place along with the child.
Later, the court adjourned the proceedings till November 7.
In the meantime, SHO Abdul Hakeem Bullo managed to escape from the court but he later surrendered before the police in the evening.
EID GIFTS: Eid gifts were distributed among women prisoners and under 18 prisoners of the central jail-II of Sukkur on Wednesday by the Association of Business Professional and Agricultural Women during a function held in the jail.
Sukkur DCO Shafiq Ahmed Khoso was the chief guest on the occasion.
Representatives of association distributed cots, blankets, clothes and eatables among the prisoners.
DIG Prison Ghulam Hussain Khoso and Manzoor Memon were also present on the occasion.
