DERA GHAZI KHAN: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar says the Koh-e-Suleman’s tehsil headquarters building will be made functional this year and the Cadet College project at Fort Munro will also be completed early to provide the best educational facilities to students.

He declared it while talking to the local tribal elders who called on him in his native village Barthi Tuman Buzdar, tehsil Takht Sulaiman. They handed him over their applications and informed him about their problems.

Mr Buzdar issued directions for the solution to the public problems, saying that he was the custodian of the people living in remote and far-flung areas of the province.

“The development journey has kick-started and it would move forward at an accelerated pace,” he said and announced to connect Chokiwala with Balochistan through a road to reduce the distance of up to 120km.

He added that establishment of a cement factory and industrial estate would provide new jobs to the locals and Fazilka Kach and other areas of Koh-e-Suleman would be provided with electricity through a solar grid station to be set up at Barthi.

The CM hoped the Sorra Dam would revolutionise the agrarian economy of an arid zone while health and education centres’ upgrade would ease the access of the locals to such vital facilities.

Mr Buzdar took an aerial view of the Sorra Dam site in the Koh-e-Suleman area. The senior member board of revenue (SMBR) and other officials accompanied him.

The irrigation secretary briefed him about the project, which would be completed at a cost of Rs5bn to promote cultivation in Taunsa and the tribal areas by providing water for irrigation.

In a statement, the CM said the government had approved the project to store hill torrents’ water and the dam was planned to utilise this water for agricultural in DG Khan and Rajanpur. The foundation stone of the Sorra Dam would be laid soon as a feasibility study was being conducted to construct more dams in the tribal area.
