Drive against spurious drugs ordered

JHANG, Nov 1: The district nazim has directed the EDO (Health) to launch an operation against spurious drugs and intoxicants being sold openly on medical stores. According to the directive issued by the district nazim, an organized campaign would be initiated to weed out elements involved in nefarious trade.

The district nazim also urged citizens to extend full cooperation by pointing out the stores where such drugs were being sold.

He directed the EDO concerned to take stern action against the lawbreakers without taking their social or political status into consideration.

UPLIFT PROJECTS: The district government is spending Rs186.8 million on various development projects in Jhang district.

This was stated by District Nazim Sahibzada Sultan Hameed while talking to reporters here on Tuesday.

The district nazim said that Rs65 million had been allocated for the installation of a CT scan machine at the DHQ Hospital.

He said a sum of Rs45 million would be spent on the improvement of medical facilities at district’s 25 RHCs while Rs50 million had been earmarked for upgrading Ahmedpur Sial RHC to the THQ Hospital.

Around Rs2 million, he said, would be incurred on the construction of an emergency ward and staff residences at the Chiniot THQ Hospital.

Similarly, he said an amount of Rs1 million had been sanctioned for the construction of an emergency block at the City Hospital, Jhang. In addition, he said the district government had decided to elevate the City Hospital to THQ Hospital and, for this purpose, a piece of land adjacent to the Hilal-i-Ahmar Hospital had already been selected.

The district nazim said that dispensaries at Chak 161-GB and Rodanwali had been approved and the district government had allocated Rs1.8 million funds for this purpose.
