Photo show held to mark Pak-China ties anniversary

QUETTA: Chinese lessee of the Saindak Copper-Gold Project launched a photo exhibition as part of celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Pak-China diplomatic relations.

The exhibition is themed as “70 Years of Shared Prosperity and Hard Time and Renewing Brotherhood between China and Pakistan”.

Rooted in the desert of Chagai District, the Metallurgical Corporation of China (MCC) has remained associated with Saindak Mine since the 1990s, and its subordinate MCC Resource Development Limited (MRDL) started operating this project in 2003. Unlike some newly-constructed China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, the MRDL has established an intimate relationship with local people and has a long history of development.

MRDL’s history itself is displayed at the exhibition, together with other six parts: “visiting Saindak,, visiting out of Saindak, our company culture, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Saindak is our home and China-Pakistan friendly interactions”.

Precious historical moments of Pak-China interaction and an epic view of the Saindak Project are selected to display on the boards. In particular, significant events experienced by Pakistan and China together are shown through pictures, such as visiting high-level national leaders and construction of important roads and bridges. Also, the MRDL exhibited its CSR attempts in these years, entailing power and water supply, provision of medical care and education, poverty alleviation, disaster relief, training, employment, etc.
