Malaysia's health ministry has reported 17,786 coronavirus cases today — a record number of infections, Reuters reports.

The total number of cases since the start of the pandemic rose to 1,113,272.

Malaysia has one of the region's highest number of coronavirus infections per-capita but also one of its fastest vaccination rates. About 39 per cent of its adult population has received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine.
