Pakistan to again host World Youth Scrabble

KARACHI: Pakistan has been given the rights to hold the WESPA Youth Cup (formerly known as World Youth Scrabble Championship) for the second year running.

The championship is being played annually since 2006 in different parts of the world but could not be played after 2019 due to the pandemic outbreak.

Pakistan offered to host the 2020 edition online for the first time with the help of technology to make sure every player is monitored and the games are played as fairly as in real life events.

The World English Scrabble Players Association (WESPA) granted the hosting rights to Pakistan and the first ever virtual championship was played in 2020.

This year once again the honour of organising the second virtual youth world championship is bestowed upon Pakistan. Vali Muhammad Khubaib has been selected as the technical director of the tournament while Hassan Hadi Khan will be the tournament director.

Six players from Pakistan will be selected through a qualifying tournament.
