PESHAWAR, Oct 30: The National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) will collect data of all school-going children, dead and injured teachers and school buildings destroyed and damaged in the quake-hit area, in order to facilitate the education department to reopen the schools from Nov 10.

This was decided at a high-level meeting held here at NCHD office with the Executive Education Officer EDO-E, Syed Shah Jee in the chair on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Unicef, Fayyaz Khan, Nisar Khan and Mushtaq Ahmed, District Prog-ramme Manager (Education), NCHD, Imran Mirza, Assistant District Programme Manager (Education) and officials of the education department.

The meeting decided that having an efficient network of social organisers, community social mobilisers and teachers in almost at every village, the NCHD was in a better position to accurately collect the data of all the school-going children.

“Further more, they will also report about the damaged and collapsed schools and will report that how many regular teachers are available for reopening of schools,” Syed Shah Jee said.

The EDO-Education said that among the total 2,534 schools, 1,100 had fully collapsed while another 1,434 were partially damaged. “Some 700 teachers had also died in the disaster, among which only 52 teachers had been verified so far with their names, respective schools and other necessary data.

Now we are looking forward to NCHD to verify all the data for both the UNICEF, Education Department and other concerned organisations”, Syed Shah Jee mentioned.

Explaining the process for the data collection, the District Programme Manager-Education, NCHD, Mushtaq Ahmed said that with the help of 467 feeder teachers, 74 social organisers and 35 community social mobilisers, the NCHD will collect the data before Eidul-Fitr.
