NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Oct 30: A procession was taken out from the Court Road to the press club here on Sunday in protest against the killing of a contractor allegedly by police on Oct 18 at the Kot Bahadur bus stop.
Relatives of the deceased, Ghulam Sarwar Memon, and activists of different political parties participated in the procession.
They were led by a brother of the deceased, Mohammad Saleem Memon, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party leader Jamil Ahmad Junejo, Awami Tehrik leader Abbas Khaskheli, Sindh National Party leader Latif Raho and Sindhi Adabi Sangat leader Gul Moro.
They also staged a sit-in outside the press club for about one hour.
The protesters alleged that the Bhirya police and the Motorways Police had opened fire as Ghulam Sarwar Memon had got out of a bus at the Kot Bahadur stop, injuring him seriously.
They said Ghulam Sarwar had been taken by police to a Naushahro Feroze hospital where he had died after sometime.
They further alleged that after injuring Ghulam Sarwar, police conducted a raid on his house and took away one television, a CD player, a licenced rifle, a stabilizer, four goats, Rs6,000 in cash and three gold sets.
The protesters told journalists that the Bhirya police had lodged a false FIR against the deceased Ghulam Sarwar, Ikhlaq Hussain Shah, Amir Ali Shah, his two uncles, Syed Doda Shah and Ikhlaq Shah, and Badshah Khaskheli.
Earlier, processions were also taken out in the Bhirya city, Mot Bahadur and Naushahro Feroze.
The protesters demanded that an impartial inquiry be conducted into the matter. They demanded that an FIR be lodged against police for killing Ghulam Sarwar and recovery of the robbed items.
